I am very careful what I put in and on my body. I cannot avoid every environmental toxin, but I can be picky about the products I use. I am aware of chemistry. I know that chemicals have big names. However, some of them are found in or on our bodies naturally. Some of them are not. Some of them are benign and are safe to use in things such as soaps and lotions. However, there are a lot of chemicals that are iffy. This is the main reason that I go for natural skincare products. Some of the chemicals I find in the ingredient lists of some products are okay, and some of them are not.
Also, where some chemicals used in skincare products are sourced is also important. Manufacturing has a lot to do with the purity of ingredients. This is another reason why I like to stick to just using natural skincare products. I like naturally sourced botanicals and other raw ingredients used in your better skincare products that are made from all-natural ingredients. I also prefer organics. This further cuts down on the synthetic chemical load that my body gets exposed to on a daily basis from personal hygiene products.
Think about it. You use your hygiene products and makeup and lotions and potions every single day of your life. Make a comparison, for example, of how much time you spend in the sun. Are you in the sun every day year round day in and day out without fail? Probably not. However, you get up, take a shower, put on your deodorant, perfume or cologne or body spray every day. You shower with a soap every day. You wash your hair, maybe every day, with a shampoo. How many chemicals are you exposing yourself too? Stick to natural skincare products and other hygiene products to be safe.
